Field Visit to the Port of Colombo

Learning Partners of the Institute of Supply and Materials Management (ISMM) successfully participated in an insightful field visit to the Port of Colombo on 14th March 2026, gaining valuable exposure to one of the country’s most critical logistics hubs.During the visit, Learning Partners explored the operational dynamics of the port, including its significant contribution to the national economy, the functioning of key terminals, and the application of modern technologies in port and logistics operations. The session provided practical insights into real-world supply chain processes, enhancing their understanding of how ports serve as a vital link in global trade and logistics networks.This field visit forms part of ISMM’s ongoing commitment to bridging the gap between academic learning and industry practice, ensuring that students are equipped with the knowledge, exposure, and competencies required to excel in the evolving logistics and supply chain landscape.
